Verfassung
Im Jahre 1991 stimmten die rumänischen Wählerinnen und Wähler dann über die künftige Verfassung ihres Landes ab. In dieser Verfassung verpflichtet sich das Land zu politischem Pluralismus innerhalb eines demokratisch legitimierten Präsidialsystems, der Wahrung von Menschenrechten, dem Schutz von Minderheiten sowie zu einer freien Marktwirtschaft.
Die Verfassung von 1991 wurde 2003 novelliert. Die "Neue Verfassung" wurde in einem Referendum von den Wählerinnen und Wählern angenommen. Diese überarbeitete Verfassung enthält ebenfalls ein klares Bekenntnis zur euro-atlantischen Ausrichtung Rumäniens.
